IXCoin is an experimental digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. IXCoin uses the same peer-to-peer technology as Bitcoin to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. IXCoin Core is the name of open source software which enables the use of this currency. IXCoin is merged mined with Bitcoin for added security and use as a Bitcoin side chain.

IXC is a close Bitcoin twin, launched on May 7, 2011. It replicates Bitcoin's core protocol mechanics with accelerated early emission and has supported merged mining with Bitcoin since 2012 for enhanced network security.
